Suggest Treatment For Fatigue, Headache And Lack Of Concentration While Experiencing Anxiety

Hi, i have been suffering from depression & anxiety in the past 6 years and was on and off meds. at the moment i'm on prozac and xanax for three weeks so far. i have been experiencing (before and after taking the meds) very low energy, needing to sleep longer, lack of focus. i'm simply tired all the time which is impacting my productivity and quality of life. Ive done a physical test recently just to make sure i don't suffer from any vitamin deficiency and my results came back normal. i eat healthy, and i push myself hard to swim or exercise with no luck most days because of my low energy. i stopped being social as well, i can't tolerate noise levels or social obligations. i tried meditation and mindfulness as well but its so hard for me to stay focused as i get restless very quickly
I cant work on my goals due to my depression and I get more depressed because I’m not achieving anything. I’m in this constant loop of feeling down and downer. At times I get spikes of energy and I try to do as much work as I can during these times but they run out very quickly and I don’t seem to find the trigger or the pattern from which I get this energy boosts.
i really need to find a solution before my life get destroyed and i lose everything.
Counseling is necessary besides medications.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Lack of energy is a common feature of the depression and anxiety disorder.
It is not a matter of vitamins, but multivitamins if taken as supplements may help in restoring some of the energy.
Best known solution about depression and anxiety is the combination of antidepressant drugs and counseling (or psychotherapy).
Antidepressants should be selected according to the type of the depression (bipolar, cyclothymic disorder, atypical, persistent, etc.) and for this is necessary to consult a Psychiatrist or Psychologist.
Drugs also need time to achieve their maximal effects, so, patience is necessary in being treated for depression too.
Discuss with your Psychologist or Paychiatrist about psychotherapy ( cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy ).
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Greetings.

Thank you for your answer.
I'm seeing a Psychiatrist who prescribed the medication. i tried counselling before and it really didn't make a difference. nothing they say or ask me to do that i haven't done for long time already.
beside, there are no real good psychologist in my area and i can't afford doing online therapy as my insurance doesn't cover it.
is there anything else i can try?
cheers, d
Self treatment is important.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
An important role in depression treatment is the self-treatment.
There are modifications of your lifestyle that help in improvement.
These include improvement of your coping skills:
- structure your time ( use a list of daily tasks )
- amplify relaxing activities ( yoga, meditation, music, swimming etc.)
- don't become isolated
- read self-help books and websites
- participate in local helpful groups.
- write a diary to express your feelings.
You can use also alternative remedies ( if these are approved to be used locally ) such dietary supplements ( SAM-e, omega3 fatty acids )
Hope I helped you.
Wishing you good health.
