Suggest Treatment For Feeling Of Something Stuck Inside Throat
Question: Hello,
I took an active charcoal pill, and it feels like it's stuck in my throat. Should I be worried? I still feel OK. I took some bread, and water, and other food- but it still feels stuck in my throat.

Hi,
Thank for asking to HCM.
After reading your clinical history it appears that mostly you are having erosion of mucosa of throat while swallowing active charcoal pill leading to stuck feeling in throat.
If you have difficulty in breathing & not able to swallow then consult ENT doctor.
If I were your treating Doctor for this case, I would advise you
Antiseptic chlorhexidine Mouth Wash twice daily,
Plenty of fluids,
Tab Vitamin c twice daily &
Antacid syrup twice daily.

Most likely active charcoal pill cause only erosion of mucosa of throat & gone into stomach.
Hence no need to worry about contents of the pill being released in my throat.
You can do upper GIT endoscopy to rule out charcoal pill being stuck in throat & erosion of mucosa can also be seen in same test.
