default
Posted on Fri, 9 Jun 2023
Question: My 10 month old daughter is having cold, fever and severe cough. Doctor advised

1. Azee 100 4ml everyday morning for 5 days
2. Levolin 1.5 ml 3 times a day for 5 days
3. Sinarest AF 0.5 ml 2 times for 3 days
4. Sumo L drops sos if there is a fever.

My questions are:

1. Since she has too much cough, can i start giving Azee 100 from today itself from night. I am asking this because the doctor advised it morning and i forgot to ask this question to him. If i give today night can i give again tomorrow morning and continue it morning or should i give the next dose only tomorrow night?

2. We just gave Levolin 1.5 ml at 5 PM. Is it ok to give it again at night or should be deferred to tomorrow morning?

Her present weight is 9.3 kg

Brief Answer:
You can start Azithromycin right now, Levolin can be repeated today.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The prescribed dosage are appropriate for age and the medications also are right for current illness.

Azithromycin is usually prescribed in the morning empty stomach as it's absorption is decreased when taken with meal. It is not always necessary to take this in morning and it can be taken well one hour before meal or two hours after that.

Therefore, you can start the medication from today only. Give next dose from tomorrow morning and then continue daily in the morning.

Regarding Levolin, depending on severity the dose can be repeated even at 6 hours interval so you can give it before bed time say at around 11p.m.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks for the response.

We gave her Azee 100 4ml but almost half of it she spilt out. Again gave little more amount but i feel that complete 4ml is not went inside.

Is it ok if the actual 4ml is not went inside or should we be very specific with the quantity? It is very difficult to ensure that the actual quantity is went inside.

Brief Answer:
No need to repeat the dose

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

As you have already repeated the dose there is no need to give it again.

The dose is need to be repeated if baby spits/vomits out almost all the medicine within one hour of ingestion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Today we gave the 4th dose of AZEE 100 to my daughter.

When we wereabout to finish the 4ml dose then she omitted everything out. Omit was mostly the cough inside her. I feel she omitted all the medicine given.

Should we give her the 4ml dose again or give the last dose(5th day) tomorrow only.

I am just worried whether the anitibiotics will work or not as todays dose is completely omitted by her. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Repeat the dose if you suspect that she has vomited all the medication

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Please repeat the dose if you suspect that she has vomited all the medicine. Don't get overly worried about the dose of antibiotic as there is a dose range for every antibiotic like for Azithromycin it's 3-5 days.

Complete 5 days course of antibiotic for better result.

I hope this helps.
