Following advice...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am sorry for the situation you are in.
1. You are saying to have a rash on the right side of your neck. Can you please specify when did it appear:
- after start of cough and congestion?
- or after taking any medication for congestion?
2. The symptoms you are describing are related to possible flu symptoms associated with eye infection too and rhinitis.
3. I advise to:
- keep good hygiene of your eyes; wash with baby shampoo (1 part) diluted in warm water (5 parts); rinse well; then rinse with chamomile tea at the end.
- continue taking cold medication as you are taking now
- increase fluids intake (water, soups, juice)
- get more rest
4. If symptoms will get aggravated or unbearable, should go to ER for immediate evaluation and treatment or get an immediate appointment with your doctor.
Wish fast recovery!

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Thank you for providing the requested data.
1. If the rash started after taking cough and cold medicines, most probably it might be an allergic reaction to these medicines. I understand cough is hard to you, but, I'd ask to stop taking these medications as they might be the cause to rash.
If rash won't disappear after stopping such medications, then, it might be related to virus that is causing cough and congestion to you.
2. To get relief of bad cough and congestion, I advise to:
- increase fluids intake (tea, water, juice)
- sleep with 2 pillows (raised head)
- take OTC anti-hystaminic medication (e.g. Benadryl)
- aerosol-therapy with salt water can help
- use saline nasal spray
- take more rest
- can use mentholated balm on the openings of your nose and on your chest; or can inhale mentholated vapor inhaler to ease congestion
- use antacids to stabilize stomach pH that is often hyper-acidic during cold.
If the symptoms will persist, you might need a short course of steroids to help relieve congestion. You need a prescription for that.
Hope it was of help! Wish fast recovery!
