Suggest Treatment For Fever For The Past 4 Days In A Child Despite Administering Meftal-P

Question: Hello Doctor, my son is having fever from 4 days it will reach 102 to 103f in the morning so I am putting meftal p 4ml to bring it down, today also I had put it in the morning at 8am it had reduced but now again after 5 hours it is 103f, can I repeat metal p, is it safe to give medtal p every 6 hours...

My son is 5 years 4 months old and weight is 15.5 kg...

Hi,

Does he have cold, runny nose, vomiting or loose stools etc.? If its only fever, it may be a viral fever. As he is having from 4 days, if he is having it for another day or 2 he should be started on antibiotics and get a blood and urine test done.

Meanwhile, he can be given Syp. Ibugesic plus 5 ml once in the morning and night if the temperature is more than 102 F. Every 4 to 6 hrs you can give him crocin DS 5 ml if he is having a temperature. In between doses, tepid sponging with lukewarm water will help.
