Suggest Treatment For Fever In A Child
Question: Hello doctor,
My daughter is 4 years old and since last 5 days had fever. Since yesterday, she has not got fever. The doctor initially had given her antibiotic (Advent Syrup) and Imol for fever.
However, yesterday when she woke up from sleep she could not keep her feet on the ground due to pain. She said that she is having pain in her calves. We immediately took her to a pediatrician who did a complete CBC, Malaria, Dengue and Chickengunya blood tests. All were negative and the cell counts also appeared normal. The heamoglobin was 11.1, WBC was 4100 and Platelets 1,78000. Entire day she did not walk. From today morning she has started walking but limps a bit and does not put her foot straight. Her foot falls slanted while walking. she denies any pain now. I am just worried as to what is causing this. Can you please guide.
Regards,

Brief Answer:
Viral Myositis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. The symptoms and reports are suggestive of viral myositis as the most likely cause. Do not worry.
I would recommend you to get her CPK test done from a laboratory. If raised then stop all antibiotics and just continue with paracetamol for pain and fever. Ensure proper diet, rest and adequate hydration.
Most kids improve within 2 weeks. You may upload the reports for my reference.
Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care
