Suggest Treatment For Fever, Uneasiness And High Blood Sugar Level In A Diabetic

Question: am diagnosed as diabetic. yesterday night sugar level was 245 and today's fasting was 145. there is fever yesterday and now. feeling uneasyness. Took crocin today and got some relief. I need your advise.

Hi,

Fever in presence of high blood sugar could be due to ketones. Do you have any other symptoms?

We need to check you for dehydration, infections and ketonuria. I will suggest that you get ketonuria checked with urinalysis. If ketones are forming, then you need to see a doctor to further manage it. In fact ketonuria is considered as emergency.

Anyways we need to bring down the sugar levels. What medicine are you taking for it? When sugar levels are high, regular insulin is used to bring sugar down.

Other symptoms are headache, numbness in hands and feet. pain in arm and legs. Nausea etc Medicine :- Janumet 1000mg once in a day.

Hi,

This seems like nerve function somewhat affected. Yes get tested for ketones in urine. Dipsticks are available at pharmacies and emergency rooms and are quicker way of testing for ketones. If ketones are ruled out then we can proceed with usual testing of other causes like infection etc. Also test for fasting sugar before dinner and in morning. Take insulin if needed. Its a temporary measure to bring down sugar levels.
