Suggest Treatment For Fever, Vomiting And Throat Infection
Question: Dear Dr XXXXXXX
My 6 year Old son got fever from today early morning(4 AM) and vomited once, we visited(10 AM) nearby pediatrician , Dr says he got throat infection and he gave P-250 Syrup along with cough syrup 2.5 ml(HH Linctus) and antibiotic tablet(TOPCEF 100DT- morning half tablet and night one tablet), P-250, 6ml given 6 hrs interval but the fever maintains around 102, again we contacted the Dr, he suggested to give MEFTAL-P 3.5 ml 8 hrs gap, can we give this one and also my kid started going loose motion since evening 4 times, what we can do? Pl advice.

Fever,cough and loose motion all these are suggestive on infection.If temperature is not responding to paracetamol you can give Meftal P(mefenemic acid).Also do tepid sponging as it is a very good remedy to bring down the temperature.
If temperature remains high you can increase the dose of Meftal-P.
The dose range of Meftal P is 5-8 mg/kg/dose.
5 ml of Meftal P contains 100 mg of mefenemic acid.
The average weight of 6 years old child is around 16-18 kg.So you can increase the dose to 5 ml.
Give adequate amount of fluid to maintain hydration and continue the other medication.Also give zinc syrup and probiotic for early recovery from loose stool.
