Brief Answer:
Lumpectomy

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Fibroadenoma is a long term risk factor for development of breast cancer.

The risk of invasive breast cancer is 2.17 times higher among the patients with fibroadenoma.

Since you are having fibroadenoma in your left breast i would advise you to undergo lumpectomy or surgical removal of the fibroadenoma for curing the disease.

Another non surgical curative treatment option is radiofrequencyassisted (RFA) removal of fibroadenoma.

Using local anesthesia and ultrasound guidance a 6 to 8 millimeter cut is made above the fibroadenoma.

Through this cut a surgical wand is inserted and then tipped by a knife that is heated by radiofrequency current.

This helps cut through the breast tissue without causing much bleeding. Once it reaches the target, small wires and robotic arms capture the fibroadenoma and extract it.

Brief Answer:
It cannot be cured with medicine

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Fibroadenomas cannot be cured with any medicine but sometimes they shrink or disappear on their own.

If you choose not to have surgery then it is important to monitor the fibroadenoma with follow up visits to your doctor for breast ultrasounds to detect any changes in the appearance or size of the lump.

If it is not removed now then it should be checked regularly.

It may need to be removed at a later time if it grows in size, change in any way or do not go away on its own.

In very rare cases fibroadenomas may become cancerous and require further treatment.

Women who have had a fibroadenoma are at a slightly increased risk for developing breast cancer at some point in their life especially if there is a family history for breast cancer.

Therefore it is important to have any lumps that are not removed checked on a regular basis.

I would advise you to perform breast self exams on a monthly basis and schedule clinical breast exams and other screenings as recommended by your doctor.

If you have no more clarifications then please rate the answer and close the thread.
