Suggest Treatment For Fibroadenoma
Fibroadenomas in breast are usually harmless tumors.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Fibroadenoma is the commonest breast tumor in young women under the age of 30 years. Usually it is painless and might be felt as a marble in your breast, moving easily under your skin when touched. Fibroadenomas can vary in size, and they can get bigger or even reduce on their own.
If it is painful or clinically suspicious then your doctor can request a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
Surgery is not always required but might be done if your biopsy results or imaging (ultrasound scan breast) is abnormal. This needs to be discussed with a general surgeon. Surgery is not always recommended if diagnosis is confirmed because even if you remove one fibroadenoma then new ones can appear in the same or opposite breast.
Fibroadenomas are a type of harmless tumor and most of fibroadenomas do not cause any increased risk of breast cancer. The chances of it becoming a cancer is extremely rare. The breast cancer risk might increase slightly if you have a complex fibroadenoma which may contain abnormal cysts or dense, opaque tissue called calcifications. This will be known in detail only after doing imaging investigations like ultrasound scan or mammography as recommended by the surgeon after clinical examination. A pathologist makes the diagnosis of a complex fibroadenoma after reviewing the tissue from a biopsy of the lump.
Fibroadenomas in breast might be followed up regularly as per clinical opinion of the surgeons.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.

Most likely not complex, please attach biopsy report for confirmation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
Irrespective of size, if the biopsy has confirmed it as a fibroadenoma then it is not likely to be complex. You can attach your biopsy report to your query for me to read and I will confirm the findings.
There is no problem in feeding due to fibroadenoma. If you have difficulty feeding your child then please learn the proper feeding techniques from a doctor or nurse. A 5 cms fibroadenoma is a slightly bigger one and most likely will change its size in few weeks. Some women can get new fibroadenomas which come and go every few months. This is normal behavior of breast fibroadenomas.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
