Question: What is the best treatment for foliculitis? And, what is the best treatment for the scars it leaves behind!

I am Dr. Kakkar (Dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
Folliculitis responds very well to Penicillin group of oral antibiotics e.g either Amoxicillin & Clavulanic acid combination Or Cephalexin Or Cefpodoxime axetil. The duration it would take is about a week.
Topically you may use either 2% mupirocin Or 2% fusidic acid, twice daily.
Folliculitis does not usually leave behind scars. It may heal with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) which resolves by itself in a few days. One may however use a hydroquinone 2% cream Or kojic acid 2% cream, twice daily to hasten resolution of PIH.
