Brief Answer:
Mostly he has developed Acute Retention of Urine.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your husband has acute retention of urine either due to Impacted stone in the prostatic part of urethra or Enlarged prostate .

He needs to be taken to ER and get following basic tests done to confirm the cause of retention of urine
1) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis
2_ Plain X- ray abdomen and Pelvis

He may need to get catheterized to drain out his bladder .

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.

We knew he had retention of urine.. What about rum and whiskey..Can they cause swelling of prostate or UTI? If a stone is lodged by the prostate duct and it is not flushed out, can this problem he has now keep reoccurring? Because it comes and goes ...sometimes intervals of 6 to 8 weeks approximately? He just keeps taking antibiotics.. He has probably taken them at least 5 to 6 times in the past year...We want to know what is wrong and have it fixed...not just keep taking antibiotics and ruin his immunities .......

Brief Answer:
You need to investigate to find out the cause rather than taking antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
hello
Thanks for follow up .
Primary concern is to detect the cause for retention of urine so that future plan can be decided .

Taking alcohol can triger retentio of urine .

Please consult qualified Urologist and get him investigated as outlined earlier .
