Suggest Treatment For Fungal Skin Infection While On Fluconazole
Question: I and my wife both are having fungal skin infection. we have been taking Fluconazole 150 mg once a week for about 6 weeks. we are also applying ZOCON powder on affected areas. We are also doing dieting and therefore drinking more than 3 lits of water each day. will high amount of water intake lead to faster excretion and lower drug effect? Suggest if we should increase the dose to 300 mg per week? also suggest if you have any other medicine and regimen to offer for quick relief.
Brief Answer:
Change of medication is advisable.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
I understand your concern.
High intake of water will not affect the drug excretion.
Fluconazole dose increase is not a wise option.
In case if the skin fungal infection is not responding adequately even after 6-week treatment, change of drug is advisable.
I generally recommend my patients oral tablets of Grifulvin ultra micro-sized once a day tablets for 2 weeks. A high degree of resistance to fungal infections is acquired after this drug use. Please check with your physician if he can prescribe this drug to you.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
