Question: HI my boyfriend has been drinking, upon coming home he went to the bathroom to vomit, due to too much alcohol. When he entered the bathroom he slipped and fell and hit his head on the left side by his eye. I rushed in and asked him what happened....He immediately spoke so I do not believe he lost concensus. He said he felt dizzy, once I could get him up, I saw there was a gash on his eyebrow and a bump.I cleaned him up and bandaged it. I finally got him to lay in bed but only minutes later he was back up vomiting, this happened 3 more times. When talking with him he knew where he was, who I was, what today was, so I feel like he understands just intoxicated. He was awake I would say at least an hour between vomiting after falling. But because he is overly intoxicated he just wants to sleep, I can't keep him awake, but have been sitting by his side....his breathing is normal, and he is snoring, thats normal......what should I do, what other things should I be looking for?

Brief Answer:
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

I see similar cases amongst people who visit my clinic.

As per detail history given by you, it is not looking towards serious injury because-

1) Your boyfriend head was hit on the left side by his eye.

2) He knew where he was, who I was, what today was
It means he is oriented.

Now remember these things to follow-

1) Apply an ice pack or instant cold pack to the injured area for 20 minutes every 3 to 4 hours.

2) Confusion, strange behavior, and any problems with understanding or speaking.

3) Inability to remember events before or after the head injury on again asking at interval of every 30 minutes.

4) Fitting (convulsions) or collapse.

5) Any visual problems, such as blurring of vision or double vision.

6) Blood or clear fluid leaking from the nose or ear.

7) Unusual breathing patterns.

If any above listed thing (2 to 7) you observe then your boy friend need to admit urgently.

Thanks.

Hope this answers your question.
If you have any query, then please do not hesitate.
I will be happy to answer your questions.
