Suggest Treatment For Gastritis And Hiatal Hernia

a diet of foods to avoid and sleeping instructions. My nausea and
vomiting continued, I had bad side effects from Nexium plus heart burn
was never my problem so I stopped it. I had a follow-up appointment
after a stomach study showing slowed emptying. I saw a NP who really
didn't know as much as I did about diet so I found out about Dr. XXXXXXX Gundry and have been following his dietary plan for 3 weeks. I
have had no nausea and vomiting for 3 weeks-my longest period since
mid-Jan. My question is how do I know if the gastritis is healed and
does the hiatal hernia ever go away or get better or worse? I usually
see my primary care physician annually and he referred me for these
tests in March. should I wait a year to go back? Thank you,

Hello,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
I am a Gastroenterologist and would be answering your query.
Gastritis means inflammation of mucosa layer of stomach as a result of excessive irritation by acid or H.Prlori bacteria.
There are two ways to know if gastritis is getting better or not-
1)Investigtion based-Repeat a endoscopy to see iff the inflammation has subsided or not.Highly specific as doctor can see mucosa directy as well as it would reflecf the status of hiatel hernia also.
2)Keep a watch on your symptom if frequency and intensity is decreasing that means gastritis is getting better.
Most patients with a hiatal hernia don't experience any signs or symptoms and won't need treatment. If you experience signs and symptoms, such as recurrent heartburn and acid reflux, you may require treatment, which can include medications. Its very well controlled by medical therapy and surgery is required only in few cases where heartburn and acid reflux can't be controlled by medications. But only way to correct hiatel hernia permanently is corrective surgery.
For slowed stomach emptying acotiamide 100 mg should be taken thrice daily for 3 months.
If your symptoms are in control on diet then yes only annual visit is required.
Hope i answered your query well.
Thanks!
