Question: have hot/ cold feeling back to back in cycles. I feel generalized body stiffness, followed by getting hot then cold. the hot is kinda of wired, it's hot/cold at the same time. then after that, I'm sleepy and tired. Then the cycle repeats again. I also feel like my upper stomach area is tight and when I walk i feel like my heart rate jumps but it actually does not (goes from 68/72 to 82/90), it just feels that way and i feel weak overall. I take Bystolic because my blood pressure is moderately high. Overall I don't feel well at all

Brief Answer:
Advice to undergo blood tests

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The symptoms you are experience which comes and goes is concerning for pheochromocytoma (which is a catecholamine secreting usually benign tumor of a gland above kidney). It can cause intermittent hot flashes, stiffness, sweating, increase heart rate and hypertension.

Plasma metanephrine levels and 24 hour urinary catecholamine level can screen for presence of pheochromocytoma.
The condition is completely curable through surgery.
I believe since you have mentioned blood test have been already done, obvious causes like hyperthyroidism have already been ruled out.

So please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider for further evaluation and management.

Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.
Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi
