Question: Thank you for being here tonight. As a 67 yr. old male, I had the honor of caring for my elderly parents since May, 2009. Having now lost both of them, I wanted to re-enter the world of relationships and potential physical intimacy. Trying to be the responsible adult that I feel I've always been, I thought it would be wise to have myself tested before all STDs before I even attempted to pursue my goal. I wasn't worried at all because I knew my personal history had always been careful and guarded. I had an 8 panel test performed by a for profit testing center. The results were all negative with the exception of the Herpes 2 test which came back with a value of 4.47. I was absolutely floored ! My last sexual contact was in April, 2010 at which I received oral sex one time by someone I knew. For the 15 years prior to that , I had ongoing relationships with two women ( at separate times) with whom I did have intercourse regularly. I have never had any symptoms of Genital Herpes. This information has devastated me. Should I go to my personal physician and go on medications or can you offer any guidance? Thanks!

Thank you for your response. The testing was performed by the company, "STD Test Express." According to their website,.... "Like the branded Herpes IgG test recommended by the CDC, our Herpes test is an accurate, type-specific serology test that distinguishes between Herpes 1 and Herpes 2 antibodies." That is the only specific information I can find regarding the test at this hour.

The medications I am on are:
Rabeprazole Sod Dr Tabs 20mg- one (1) tab QD.
Rantidine 150mg Tabs- one (1) tab every evening.
Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray USP 50 mcg - 2 sprays into each nostril QD.
Nortriptyline HCL 10mg (generic for Pamelor capsule)- at bedtime PRN for IBS symptoms.
Jublia Topical Solution 10%- Apply QD to large toes.

I have been diagnosed as "Prediabetic" but overall my health is good.

I did receive the Shingles vaccine over a year ago if that should have any influence.
