Question: I HAVE BEEN RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH GENITAL HEREPS! MY PARTNER SAID, "I GUESS THAT IS THE END OF OUR SEX LIFE!! HE IS THE ONLY PARTNER FOR 3 YEARS! HE HAS ONLY BEEN WITH ME!! I NEVER HAD THIS BEFORE AND HE SAID HE HAS NEVER HAD THIS BEFORE!! HOW CAN WE KNOW WHO HAD IT FIRST?

it's Very difficult to determine who had the herpes virus first. I would recommend talking less about that and more about how you can continue a fulfilling intimate relationship with the new knowledge you have gained.

Herpes can be controlled and suppressed to the point where transmission rates become quite low with antiviral medications.

Again focus on why you are together and the strength of your relationship should endure this challenge.
