Suggest Treatment For Glaucoma, Mild OA, Dizziness And Spinning Feeling

Question: Hi. My mom is 85, generally healthy, active, even industrious, has early glaucoma, some mild OA, but has random dizziness, recently fairly intense. When lying down, she feels like the bed is spinning 360 degrees. Then, even after a good rest, it can be difficult to stand and walk. Sometimes there is none at all, sometimes just relaxed shopping brings on a bout.
Blood pressure normal, healthy diet, not overweight, nothing wrong with hearing. Taking Dramamine again now to manage, but doesn't think it is effective. Several months passed with no episodes, without any medication. Hope you can provide clues. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Probably related to inner ear.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

That description seems more compatible with an inner ear issue. They are very common and become even more probable with age as the vestibular system ages.
In terms of medication drugs like Dramamine or Meclizine are the most appropriate ones so I wouldn't recommend adding anything else for now.

On the other hand I believe you should consult an ENT doctor for the possibility of some non medication alternatives. If it is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo BPPV, a subtype with short bouts when changing head position, due to the presence of some free moving particles, there is a maneuver called Epley maneuver which could move these particles out.
Even if not BPPV he could recommend vestibular therapy, a sort of physical therapy for the ear, which while not always pleasant could help as well.

I remain at your disposal for other questions.
