Suggest Treatment For Gliosis Of The Cervical Spine
multiple therapies are currently in trials
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Gliosis of which astrogliosis is the most common form is a nonspecific reactive change of glial cells in response to damage (e.g by trauma) to the central nervous system (CNS) including cervial spinal cord.
Multiple therapies are presently in clinical trials for gliosis.
β-lactam antibiotics (e.g. Ceftriaxone) have been used to augment astroglial glutamate transport and thereby be anti-excitotoxic.
Minocycline has also been used as suppressor of astrogliosis.
The cell cycle inhibitor olomoucine also has been shown to suppress both microglial and astroglial proliferation as well as glial scar formation.

Gliosis & gabapentin
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Gliosis is a nonspecific reactive change of glial cells in response to damage to the central nervous system (CNS) e.g. by tumor, infection, brain surgery, stroke, or trauma. In most cases, gliosis involves the proliferation or hypertrophy of several different types of glial cells, including astrocytes, microglia, and oligodendrocytes. In its most extreme form, the proliferation associated with gliosis leads to the formation of a glial scar.
examples-in Amyotrphic lateral sclerosis(motor neuron disease) there is motor neuron degeneration and death with gliosis replacing lost neurons.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease characterized by inflammation, demyelination, gliosis (scarring), and neuronal loss and can affect spinal cord.
Kindly let me know what exact diagnosis you have been labelled with.
Gabapentin (Neurontin) is a medication used as an anticonvulsant and analgesic and not a drug of choice for gliosis. It is mainly used as adjunctive therapy in treatment of partial seizures with or without secondary generalization and in the
management of post-herpetic neuralgia.
