Welcome to the HCM.
Dear abscess is actualy an infection ,and this site is very sensitive and painfull.Since tylonol is pain reliever and bactrim is antibiotic .I would like to ask ;since when he is taking these medicines.If he has been taking these medicines for few days, and still running high fever and increase in size of swelling or abscess then I would suggest get a swab test done and take an opinion from general surgeon ,as he might be needing drainage of abscess .Because if abscess is not responding to antibiotic then drainage by a general surgeon may help getting rid of infection ,which would be simple procedure with local anesthetic.

He has only taken 2 doses of antibiotic and I gave him 3 doses of pain meds. If we don't drain it will antibiotic be able to kill infection ? It isn't a big blister long and skinny just about 2 inches long and 1/4 inch in width

Small abscess can be healed with antibiotic course completion.If pain is bothersome ,you may try hot compressess for 15 minutes ,4 times a day.If the abscess increase in size then it may need further evaluation.Otherwise hot compresses,pain killer and antibiotic course may help heal with in few days.
