Suggest Treatment For Grade 1 Knee Injury
Needs immobilising and limb elevation
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Thanks for the query.
Since you have suffered from accident today, you should keep your knee in a hinged knee brace. Do not try to flex or extend the knee because there would be lot of swelling and it will cause more discomfort.
ACL tear is the important ligament in the knee which is responsible in preventing the leg from slipping forward and if it is torn you could experience difficulty in climbing down stairs, walking downhill and running. Sometimes associated with ACL tear is also a tear in the knee cartilage called Meniscus tear. It is quite common with ACL tear and your Doctor needs to assess for that.
Keep you limb elevated over two pillows. Apply ice to the swollen knee. Take anti inflammatory pain killer like Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days. Eat healthy. Keep well hydrated.
You need to give test to your knee for 6 weeks especially if you have pain on walking. Get another assessment by your Doctor after 3 weeks to understand the injuries better one the swelling comes down. You may also be asked to get MRI Scan knee to look for the grade of ACL Tear.
I hope I have answered your query.

MRI?
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for the follow up query.
If you have done MRI kindly detail the report.
MCI ligament is important to keep the knee stable and prevent it from bending outwards. This movement causes pain if attempted in a case of MCI tear.
Usually knee brace immobilisation will suffice if it is a partial tear. Complete years may need arthroscopic or pen reconstruction of the MCI ligament.

Rest to the knee is needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for the follow up query.
Your Doctor has correctly advised you to give rest to the knee. Avoid bending it or twisting it. Wear the knee cap or a hinged knee brace which will be better. Avoid running or squatting.
Continue this for 4 weeks for the ligament to heal.
If you still have pain in the knee on walking or cross leg sitting after 4 weeks of using hinged knee brace, then it may need to be repaired for which you should get seen by a Sports Medicine specialist who will decide based on clinical and possibly MRI findings as necessary.
I hope I have answered your query.
