Suggest Treatment For Grade 2 Changes In The Placenta During Pregnancy
Question: Hi,
At my 20 week scan my placenta was graded as grannum II. I understand that 20 weeks is very early to have already reached grannum II stage. Should I be being monitored more regularly to check that my placenta does not progress to grannum III prematurely? At the moment I am not due to have any further scans.
Many thanks

Brief Answer:
Kindly upload the report
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to health care magic Forum. Thanks for writing in to us with your health query. I have gone theough your query and understand your concerns completely. I would like to see the report for the uterine artery blood flow to assess the further management. Normally Grade 2 changes in placenta start after 28 weeks of gestation, so I need to see the whole report. Regards Dr Manisha Jain.
Kindly upload the report

Here is the info in my notes from 20 week scan (note baby's measurements are currently all normal and estimated fetal weight 442g).
Presentation: cephalic
Placenta site: anterior high
Placenta grade: Grannum II
Amniotic fluid: normal
Cord insertion: normal
Fetal heart activity: visualised
Fetal movements: normal
No specific info on uterine artery blood flow.
In my 12 week scan they noted also:
Cord: 3 vessels
Placenta: anterior, structure normal
Amniotic fluid: normal
That's all I have (I'm in the UK).
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Uterine artery Doppler advised
Detailed Answer:
Then I would like you to have uterine artery Doppler along with repeat placental grading if possible as it is a very unusual finding to have this report with normal growth and liquor.
Get the ultrasound and then we will discuss further
Regards
Dr Manisha
