Suggest Treatment For Growing Itchy Spots Of Rashes On The Torso Which Also Cause Deep Muscle Ache
Question: I have a rash on 3 spots on my torso which is spreading. It began localized on my back with a strong itch, I scratched, and it spread to three spots. The original site of the itch continues to have deep muscle ache (below left shoulder blade). Problem began 4 days ago and is not improving. I have applied hydrocortisone cream and taken Benadryl. What is the best treatment?

I have reviewed the attached photographs. It could be either herpes zoster or paedrous dermatitis which is hypersensitivity reaction related to insects.
I need to ask you a few questions:
- Is this rash consisting of solid bumps or fluid filled blisters?
- Are these lesions itchy or painful? Which sensation is more?
- Are they present on one side of the back or crossing the mid-line?
- Do you have diabetes or any other ailment?
- Are you taking any medicines?

The rash areas began with redness and itchiness and has developed fluid-filled blisters.
The areas are tender and more itchy than painful.
It began on lower back (beneath left shoulder) but has spread to three other areas where I have scratched. The original site is still very achy (deep muscle ache) but the other rash areas do not have any aches.
I do not have diabetes, nor do I take any medications.
What sort of insect bite might cause this (that diagnosis seems infinitely more probable)? Could it be a spider bite? There are no pets in our home so ticks, fleas, etc. seem very improbable.

Hello,
According to your complaints it still looks like paedrous dermatitis. It is very difficult to comment on the nature of
the insects. I don’t think it is a spider bite.
I would recommend you to apply for a potent topical steroid and antibiotic combination like Clobetasol Propionate Cream and Fusidic Acid Cream on the affected areas twice daily and take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine twice daily for 5-7 days.
If the condition doesn’t improve in 3 days, you might require a short course of oral steroids like tablet Prednisone once daily for 5 days. These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
