Suggest Treatment For Growling Stomach Along With Diarrhea

Question: Hi doctor I am suffering from continuous loose motions watery stools .... Since 2 days ...this morning in last 4 hours have passed 7-8times
Had taken Imodium and eldopar yesterday and today
My doc said it was viral gastro which is going around in Geneva
No fever
My stomach is growling non stop
Can you help

First of all thanks for choosing Healthcaremagic for posting your query.

It could be viral or bacterial . Difficult to tell without a stool test. I would recommend a stool Routine test which will differentiate between Viral and Bacterail.

This differentiation is important as Bacterial gastroenteritis requires Antibiotics while viral doesn't require antibiotics . Also Eldopar/Imodium can be taken in viral but should never be taken in Bacterial gastroenteritis.

So kindly get the test done and revert back . Till then drink plenty of water , fruit juices and eat less oily food.

Dear Doctor

Thanks for your response.
However, its an obvious aspect. Reason I called for on line help as I was in a weekend / travelling with out access to Doctors.

Recap
I had deep watery stools non stop more than 8-10 per day from Thursday to Sunday afternoon. No fever, no blood stool.
However, from sunday afternoon to Monday evening had no stools and then had semi-watery stools again.
I have been taking loperadium hydrochloride (eldopar) for 4-6 times a day for stools.

Let me know for any specific advise , guidance, medication

Thanks for the follow up .

In that case use Cap redotil 2-3 times a day for 2 days . Please stop Imodium .

If loose motions persists kindly get a prescription of Orni _ O ( this is an antibiotic which requires doctor's prescription ) and use it .
