Question: My 85 year old wife has had cold symptoms for 2 days- headache, coughing, low fever, runny nose.
She now has fever of 100.5, feels terrible and just threw up.
Her geriatric md. Told her mid afternoon to come tomorrow, if not improved. She had low fever and no nausea at that time. Not sure what to do.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query.

Looking at the symptoms, your wife is probably suffering from Viral infection leading to inflammation of the nose and respiratory tract.

She may find relief by taking following medicines:

Antihistaminic like Loratidine 10mg once daily at bedtime,

Oral decongestant like Pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine and Nasal decongestant drops like Oxymetazoline (it's a prescription medicine, use decongestant only if she's not suffering from hypertension, heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, or high pressure in the eyes-glaucoma),
Cough expectorant like Ambroxol 10ml trice daily,
Analgesic with Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen with Antacid like Rantac 150mg twice daily before food.

Continue using Tylenol for fever.

Do steam inhalation. Drink lots of warm fluids. Continue using the green tea with honey, cinnamon, ginger and turmeric. Avoid dust and cold food.

Hope this will give her relief.

I would be happy to answer if you have any follow-up questions.
Take care.
