Suggest Treatment For Headaches And Dizziness

Question: 57 yr old male in generally good health...for several months i have experienced dizziness....and general brain fog....sometimes worse upon standing....now it has progressed to daily..sometimes headaches in back of head near neck....feels like i am walking around with 2 drinks in my system but i do not drink...my pc dr thought it might be postitional vertigo but now it lasts most of the day

I have gone carefully through your concern. Most often, vertigo can be due to causes localized to the vestibulocochlear apparatus of the inner ear, or the cerebellum, a part of the back portion of the brain. Your condition therefore calls for a careful neurological evaluation on one hand and an audiometry (to rule out sensorineural involvement of the inner ear) on the other. Positional vertigo mostly relates to the inner ear and often has a viral cause (not something that you can test for). A step by step approach should help.

I would insist you to get your blood pressure checked. I would recommend drinking plenty of water daily.

Thanks for writing back. Yes you should see a neurologist. You also need to get a pure tone audiometry done. You can do that after visiting the neurologist however.
