Suggest Treatment For Headaches And Sleep Apnea
I have ordered a CPAP machine but it will be weeks before I get it and I'm concerned if it will fix the issue or not because what I read online leads me to believe my sleep is not the issue. If it is not I would like to start exploring other ideas. I'm in a allot of pain with horrible morning headache that lessen during the day but I have the nearly all day every day. I also feel tired and don't want to do anything anymore. I have no hobbies anymore because by the time I get off work I'm too tired to do anything. I'm so sleepy all the time. I wake up around twice a night to use the restroom. Please help - XXXXXXX
Sleeping on the side decreases the obstruction
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
It is not clear whether sleep apnea was confirmed in you. If so please let me know how it was confirmed. CPAP would help only if you have Obstructive sleep apnea.
If you sleep on your side, the chances of obstruction are less. A simple thing I tell my patients who have milder forms of sleep apnea is to sew a tennis ball in the centre of the back of a shirt they wear to bed. No one can sleep on his back with a tennis ball and is forced to sleep on the side.
You should also lose weight by reducing your food and eating only healthy wholesome food, exercise at least 30 minutes a day and practice stress relieving measures.
If you have a 24-hour pulse oximetry measurement, it would be helpful in knowing what your SAS score is.
Take care

Mild SAS.
Detailed Answer:
Here I manage such mild cases without CPAP.
Your main problem as far as I can see is that you take a long time to fall asleep and have a disturbed sleep which makes you tired and sleepy during daytime.
You have a vascular headache which is also very troublesome . When my patients have such problems, I find a small dose of beta-blockers and Topiramate help them.
You could discuss this with your doctor .
