![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I am suffering from SNHL in my right ear, doc says cells are damaged and cannot be repaired. lost hearing in march 2011. what are chances of success in homeopathy? or should i get a device implanted?
Brief Answer:
Salvage therapy may be tried.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. I have had some success in late hearing loss with transtympanic steroids and HBOT (HyperBaric Oxygen Therapy).
2. If you have a set of Audiograms, kindly upload them for further discussion.
3. A BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) implant is ideal for single sided hearing loss.
4. There is no harm in trying out hopmeopathy.
If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.

Dr. Bhatti,
Thank you for your reply.
transtympanic steroids and HBOT - will this work for me considering that its been over 3 years since i lost hearing in my right ear and (b) is it a one time injectable or is this more like a course. you say you have had "some success" - did people recover fully or was it partial recovery?
Unfortunately i don't have my audiograms but i do recall that i had atleast 4-5 of them and everyone suggested that mine was a "gone" case.
BAHA- this is what everyone recommended but i don't want to opt for this as this will affect my career.
Can you please provide some clarity on homeopathy, what treatments are there and can you recommend me to someone?
Thank you for your reply.

Brief Answer:
Lycopodium 30, TTS & HBOT trial , softband BAHA
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing back.
1. Lycopodium 30 three times a week for a few weeks may be worth a try.
2. What is interesting is that spontaneous recovery without treatment is seen on many patients. Treatment is successful the earlier it is started and preferably within 4-6 weeks. This is the reason that one is never sure if the patients recovered on their own or because of the treatment. Controlled studies are not justified (denying some patients treatment). However patients treated late, up to three months have shown good improvement.
3. There is no harm in a trial of transtympanic steroids and HBOT. There are patients you can speak to and see serial audiograms as proof. One child's story came in the local newspapers. Initial treatment is with high dose steroids and supportive medication. Do you have any record of the treatment you received three years ago?
4. Assuming that you have SSD (I will need to see an audiogram), BAHA is the best device. You can try out a softband BAHA. The new BAHA implants have a transcutaneous magnetic coupling and the implant is no longer visible, only the processor.
5. It is really difficult to put down everything in writing. You may request for a telephonic chat.
If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
