Suggest Treatment For Hematuria
Question: i have five days until urology appt. New patient. Gross hematuria diagnosed from ER visit. Managing ok. Do I want clots or not. Drinking water constantly seems to keep clots away.
Brief Answer:
Needs investigations
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You certainly need to get some tests done. An ultrasound exam of kidneys and bladder,i.e. KUB, an X-ray of KUB, analysis of urine with culture and sensitivity, urine for cytology and a basic clotting and bleeding parameyrs test.
In the meantime, continue to take plenty of fluids which as you have discovered will hopefully keep urine free of clots.
Once the reports are available, we will be in a position to guide you better.
Best wishes.

I failed to mention that CT scan at hospital showed mass on bladder. Thank you for your advice on keeping clots away. Should be able to manage until exam.
Brief Answer:
That explains
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
CT is usually good at picking up bladder lesions, and if it has indeed shown a mass, then you should be prepared for a cystoscopy and biopsy or a transurethral resection of bladder tumor. Urine cytology assumes more importance now and can be done straightaway.
Regards.
