Suggest Treatment For Hemorrhoids And Stomach Flu

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Aug 2016
Question: I am passing little blobs of bloody mucus. I can hardly eat or drink anything without having to feel like I need to have a bm. I thought I had stomach flu but am beginning to think its a parasite since I have had intense itching as well which I had previously thought might just be from a small hemorrhoid but the itching has been going on for quite a while. I am 67 years old and thought I was in fairly good health other than this. I have been drinking lots of roasted dandelion tea and organic kefir (the last just recently).

I was feeling pretty sick on Monday so it has been about 6 days and finding little bits that look like bloody mucus if I actually have some substance to a bm. The itching has gone on for months but I have had hemorrhoids on and off since I had my colonoscopy a year ago. I have also had shingles on my butt three times since then whereas before the colonoscopy I hadn't had shingles for several years.

Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.

I saw the picture. It has more of blood and mucus and less of stool.
You are having signs of colitis probably due to infection.
The most likely cause is amebic colitis.

Stool analysis may be done to confirm it.
You may require a course of tablet Metronidazole to get rid of it.

Dr.R.K.

I eat bread all the time called seedsation and I guess there's a possibility of diverticulitis and I should not be eating seeds either

Thank you. I will see a doctor as soon as possible and apologies for not actually answering your question. I believe I have had fever on and off but no real stomach pain...just general nausea.

Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If you have had fever and nausea, then bacterial colitis should be considered.
Again stool test should be done.
A course of ciprofloxacin would help in bacterial colitis and metronidazole in case of amebic colitis.

If it is due to milder diverticulitis then again your doctor would prescribe ciprofloxacin.

Regards.
