But treatment with appropriate antiviral drugs definitely fasten the healing, alleviate the discomfort and pain and will reduce the viral shedding after healing.
Acyclovir 4oo mg 3 times a day for 5-7 days or Famcyclovir 250 mg twice a day or Valcyclovir 1 gm daily for 5-7 days will equally effective in healing the HSV lesions or stomatitis. Acyclovir cream can be applied over lips. If pain is severe local anesthetic creams and pain killers may be useful.
