Suggest Treatment For Hiatal Hernia

Question: I had an UGI series done a week ago. My PCP said they found a hernia near the bottom of my esophagus a and referred me go a GI specialist.
What treatment can I expect? Medication, surgery and I don't know what else they do for this problem. I have constant gerd, wake up with discharges on my pillowcase and the worst heartburn I have ever experienced. Please help me so I can know what to expect.

Generally if you have tried Pantoprazole treatment for few months and it did not helped, you are a good candidate for laparoscopic (minimal invasive) surgery called fundoplication.
Before this decision, GI specialist should as you to have 24 hours pH monitoring and esophagus manometry. This tests are necessary to determine what kind of surgery is the best for you.
This surgery is something that can set you free from all symptoms, so there is no reason to be afraid of it.
