Suggest Treatment For High ALT Levels
Question: I had a Ferritin level of 143 last week. Am currently awaiting today's Ferritin levels. I have porphyria and have to have phlebotomy treatments at Ferritin above 50. 143 is the highest I've ever been. Today, my ALT measured at 68. It was 32 in December 2015. People with porphyria are at high risk of liver damage. Does my ALT test suggest there is now liver damage?

It LEDs to cholestasis, mild liver damage on late cases severe liver disease.
Basic aim of treatment is to reduce protoporpyrine level.
Drugs like ursodeoxycholic acid, activated charcoal, cholestyramine are useful depending on type of liver damage and severity.
You should go for ultrasound liver and liver biopsy once and start treatment accordingly.
