Question : i was just switched to irebesartan 150mg from Benicar about 2 weeks ago, my doctor also prescribed hctz 12.5 mg I was in emergency room Thursday with high blood pressure 174/ 108 . today I feel terrible and just took my blood pressure it is 181 over 94 , should I double up on my irebesartan to lower it.

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that your actual blood pressure values are really high and they indicate uncontrolled high blood pressure.

For this reason, I would recommend raising the does of Irbesartan to 300mg daily.

I would also recommend discussing with your doctor on the possibility of adding a beta-blocker (Carvedilol) and a calcium channel blocker (Amlodipine or Lercanidipine) to your actual therapy.

I would also recommend some lifestyle modifications to help maintain normal blood pressure values:

- reduce salt and caffeine intake
- perform a lot of physical activity (walking, Yoga, recreational sports, etc.).
