Suggest Treatment For High BP

Your blood pressure is high.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
Optimal values for blood pressure are 120/80 mmHg but it may vary up to 140/90 mmHg ans still considered in normal range.
Numbers over 140/90 mmHg are considered Hypertension. So readings of 163/90 mmhg is high enough to do something about it.
It is very important to know if your blood pressure is constantly high or it is occasionally high.
To know this you have to measure your blood pressure twice a day everyday at the same hour (e.i 9 am and 6 pm every day) for 10 days and record the readings.
If your blood pressure is over 140/90 mmhg most of the readings then you should consult a cardiologist for evaluation and probably start a treatment.
The first thing to try to lower your blood pressure is by doing diet and lifestyle modifications including:
-Stop smoking (if you smoke)
-Limit your alcohol and caffeine intake
-Avoid high calorie meals
-Keep a low salt diet
-Eat healthy foods, mostly green vegetables and drink plenty of water.
-Exercise daily (at least 40 min every day).
If your blood pressure is still over 140/90 mmhg despite lifestyle modifications ,your cardiologist probably will prescribe drugs to lower it.
Conclusion :A blood pressure of 163/90 is considered high.It is important to know if your blood pressure is constantly high.If yes first you need to do some diet and lifestyle modifications to lower it.If your BP is still high you need a treatment to control your BP.
Hope my answer has helped.
