Suggest Treatment For High TSH Levels

Question: I am on hormone therapy and just received blood work back. I am on sythroid and before my TSH level was always around 3.0 it is now 8.77. I have an appointment with my MD in 2 weeks in the meantime; should I increase or decrease my sythroid amount?
Brief Answer:
How do you feel? DO you have any symptoms?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.
This result suggest that your medications are not working properly and you may need to have the dose increased. If you have no symptoms, then there is no urgency and I will rather advise that you wait and go in for adjustments. If you have symptoms of low thyroid, it would make sense to call your doctor and get his opinion before increasing the dosage.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

I had not been able to take my medication for about 2 weeks. I have an appointment with my dr. in a week. I thought I should continue with my normal dose until I see him correct
Brief Answer:
Yes, continue the normal dose!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If you had not taken your medications for two weeks, that probably explains why your numbers are higher than expected. Get back on treatment with the prescribed doses until you meet him.
I wish you well and keep me updated!
