Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the details.
As you have mentioned all the necessary investigations were done in the past and all were normal. I believe that Rapid urease test for H. Pylori infection was also done as this bacteria is known to cause excessive secretion of acid in the stomach which is not been able to control by antacids and eradication with antibiotics is required. If this test is not been done, then please get it done and see your doctor for prescription of antibiotics.
Along with this as you have mentioned that you feel her acidity could be due to junk, oily food and stress. I suggest you to ask her to follow these measures, might be these measures would have been suggested by your doctor but strict following is required:
1. Consumption of plenty of water(Min of 2 to 3 ltrs/day). I usually suggest to drink a glass of water an hour before and after every meal. This makes sure adequate intake of water.
2. To avoid consumption of junk and oily food. Rather she can have more of vegetable salads and healthy regular meals.
3. To avoid excess consumption of tea, coffee and carbonated drinks.
4. To avoid going to bed within 2 hrs of having dinner.
5. Ask her to follow regular physical and mental exercises like meditation and yoga.
6. In some cases due to low motility of the stomach, the food gets stagnated in stomach for longer hours which produces excess secretion of acid and gas formation. For these, prokinetic drugs like Itopride can be prescribed. Discuss regarding this with your doctor.
7. An antibiotic course might be required along with an Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to know the damage to the stomach lining.
Hope this answers your query.
Regards.
