Suggest Treatment For High Blood Pressure While On Labetalol For More Than 30 Years
Question: I have been taking labetalol for high blood pressure for more than 30 yrs.
I also have essential tremor. Would a change to propranalol help the tremor without affecting thee blood pressure situation?

Propranolol cn be used for high blood pressure though it is not used as commonly now because of the newer members of this drug/medication family.
The dose for high blood pressure varies, initially persons may start with 40mg twice daily but this can be increased every 3 to 7 days (if necessary) till it reaches n effective dose. Persons may use 80 to 240 mg every 8 to 12 hours if necessary. These doses refer to the immediate release medication.
Propranolol can also come as also release medication.
The dose is similar for essential tremor, persons can also be started on 40mg twice daily. This can be increased to 120 mg 320 mg every 8 to 12 hours if necessary.
The propranolol should help with both your blood pressure and the tremor but if the BP is not in control, your doctor can add additional medication.
