Question: Hello Doc,

In my recent health check report my Cholesterol % came very high( attached report). I was reading online and found "Omega 3 fatty acids" to be a useful supliment. Need little more advise on this as in how many should I take per day and for how long? Also, is there anything else should I do to bring down my cholesterol rates.

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Need details

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
I was not able see any attached reports. I guess you have not attached reports in correct way.
I suggest you upload reports again on right side of your dashboard or you can send to YYYY@YYYY and subject as ATTN: Dr. Bhagyalaxmi.
Yes, omega 3 fatty acids contains food help to reduce bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol ( HDL). But alone supplements will not help you. You have to maintain your diet and you should do physical exercises. You can take 4 gm per day for 3 months. But along with better you take omega 3 fatty acids contains food which is more helpful to you.
I also would like to know your height and weight.
Do you have any other medical illness?
Kindly get back to me with details and reports.

Brief Answer:
Physical exercise and diet important

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thank you for attaching reports.
I have gone through your reports. All your cholesterol values are increased. It is good that HDL (good cholesterol) value more than 40.
And you are having over weight.
All you need to reduce your weight by doing physical exercises and maintaining diet.
You have to do exercises for 30 minutes per day regularly which is most important.
Avoid eating oily, spicy, fat food.
Eat fresh fruits, fish, garlic, nuts and vegetables like salads.
And repeat test after 3 months if you will not see better results with aforementioned suggestions then you need to consult a doctor and start medications like statins.
If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
