Suggest Treatment For High Fever, Blocked Nose, Throat Pain And Thirst
Question: High fever ( 102 F ) since 16 hours, blocked nose, throat ache, thirsty. Neorofen is only subsiding temperature for an hour or so. Age 3 years 8 months
In the last few weeks he had hay fever and there we gave him 3 doses of antihistamine ( chlorophenamine maleate )

Considering the symptoms of high fever,runny nose and sore throat it seems to be a viral infection of upper respiratory tract.Usually these infections are self-limited and can last up ti 1 week.
It is important to treat high fever with Ibuprofen and keep him hydrated.Try to give him plenty of fluids.
The symptoms should improve in few days.
If the symptoms doesn't seem to improve and the fever stays high despite the Ibuprofen , you need to take him to his pediatrician.

Thanks doctor. He's got blocked nose and temperature subsides just for an hour or 2 then goes up again. How long you suggest we wait before showing him to paediatrician? He keeps complaining of sore throat as well.

If he is taking enough fluids ,and the fever doesn't increase over 102 F ,you can wait for the symptoms to resolve.
If the fever doesn't subside and doesn't get down with Ibuprofen, you need to consult a pediatrician.In this case the cause might be a bacterial infection probably tonsillitis and it would require antibiotics to heal.
In cases of bacterial infection ,the fever will not subside no matter of what you do ,until antibiotics are taken.
If your child drinks enough fluids, doesn't look sick (plays around) ,and the fever doesn't increase further , you don't need to worry.Just need to be patient until the symptoms subside.
You can lukewarm baths to lower the fever and to make him feel better.
