Brief Answer:
Both meftal p and mefkind p has same composition

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

Both meftal p and mefkind p contain mefenemic acid 100 mg/5 ml of syrup.
You can give mefkind p in the same dose as advised by your physician.
In addition I would suggest you to do tepid sponging to bring down the temperature.

Brief Answer:
Fever makes the baby cranky

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up

I can understand your concern.Babies get cranky due to the fever.Just give your best and continue trying for sponging.
I hope she would respond to Mefkind P. Give her plenty of fluids for better hydration.

Wishing for your baby's speedy recovery.

Brief Answer:
Both can be used as antipyratic but paracetamol is safer

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back

I would like to brief you the management of fever.
Fever is body's response to any infection or inflammation. So it is a protective phenomena. But once temperature rises above 100 F it should be treated with antipyratics as it increase basal metabolic rate and can cause irritability, poor feeding etc.
Paracetamol is the safest antipyratic as it has no side effects on kidney or platelet.
Other antipyratics like ibuprofen and mefenemic acid should be avoided. In few conditions these are even contraindicated(like in Dengue because of platelet dysfunction).
So it is always better to give paracetamol in case of mild fever. If fever is not responding to paracetamol or very high grade fever ibuprofen or mefenemic acid can be given if not contraindicated.

So in short, I won't recommend mefenemic acid as first choice for fever. You can give it if fever is difficult to control but under physician's guidance.

This is the recommendation by XXXXXXX academy of pediatrics for management of fever. Please go through it for better understanding.

Wishing you baby's good health.
