Suggest Treatment For High Levels Of SGOT And SGPT Levels

Question: I recently got lab results including liver function. SGOT was 67 and SGPT was 79. Are these considered high? I have had a lot of stress and am drinking more than usual so if I cut down or quit, how long will it take to lower these results. Is there any prescription meds that can lower my desire to drink?
Brief Answer:
need to stop alcohol
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Your SGOT and SGPT levels are high.I would advise to cut down/ preferably completely abstain. It can take one to 3 months for the levels to get back to normal. Acamprosate and baclofen are two drugs which can help reduce craving for alcohol. Please consult your doctor for a prescription. I would advise you to repeat the tests after a month
Hope this helps

I called my primary physician after asking you the question because I don't see her for another week and I was sent the lab tests to my house and the lab sent them to her seperatly. She said the liver tests were slightly elevated but not terribly significant. My follow up question therefore is, are they significantly high or not.
If you think they are, I'm wondering about her opinion and whether I should get another doctor. She asked if I was nauseous or yellow or fatigued and I said no. She also advised to reduce or abstain but that that the levels weren't terrible.
Your opinion please and what is normal SGOT and SGPT?

Brief Answer:
are raised though not high to ring XXXXXXX bells
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Your shot is more than one . 5 times and sgpt is almost two times elevated.
These are abnormal . although not high enough to warrant medications or pose immediate threat.
And in this matter your doctor rightly said that it does not need meds and won't cause immediate adverse effects. I think significant was used in context of immediate danger to life and need for medication
I would not recommend continued alcohol use at these levels as continued alcohol use exposes to risk of worsening of these level and risking liver damage
