Suggest Treatment For High Resting Heart Rate And Blood Pressure
Do not change your medication yourself
Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam
Thanks for your query.
1. Our blood pressure as well as heart rate are continuous variables. That means they change from minute to minute. Any mental or physical stress increases our blood pressure and heart rate.
2. It takes about 10-14 days for any blood pressure lowering medication to bring its full effect.
3. The primary aim of this medication is to lower blood pressure. We don't tend to lower heart rate unless it is a rhythm disorder or it is causing troublesome symptoms to patient.
4. Since you have cold, there is a stimulus to increase your heart rate and blood pressure. It is not recommended to change the drugs in such a scenario unless there are marked symptoms or very high blood pressure.
5. Do not increase or decrease dose of blood pressure medication on your own. It may be dangerous to do so. Consult your doctor if it is persistently very high (>160/100 mmHg) or you have troublesome symptoms.
Sincerely
