Suggest Treatment For Hydronephrosis
Investigate the hydronephrosis.
Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!
I am very concerned why right kidney has hydronephrosis. Hydronephrosis means there is swelling of your right kidney and this swelling is usually due to obstruction of the urinary tract. This obstruction may cause your right kidney not to function thereby lowering your eGFR. I would recommend getting a ct scan to check for obstruction and if there is a confirmed obstruction then it should be treated/managed right way to relieve the obstruction and make your right kidney work.
What is your creatinine result? a GFR of 51 is still manageable by working closely with a nephrologist to maximize renal function and prevent further kidney deterioration.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://www.HealthcareMagic.com/doctors/dr-manuel-c-see-iv/66014 I would gladly help you. Best wishes
do I need to follow up with a urologist or stay with the nephrologist for this procedure.
See a urologist.

thank you for follow up question. It is good that your creatinine is within normal limits. I would suggest seeing a urologist so he can evaluate the hydronephrosis properly and suggest a treatment/management plan to relieve the obstructing.
