Suggest Treatment For Hyperacidity And Gastritis
My daughter is 5 years old. Every one or two days she complains about tummy hurts during meal, which is not related to hunger, car sickness, or bowl movement. And we also ruled out game playing (i.e. she doesn't want to eat Most time and eager to play). it happens in the morning during breakfast. First we thought it might be milk but it still happens even we didn't give her milk. Recently she started to complains during dinner time. We haven't yet got see her doctor yet. Just wonder what could be the reason and what kind of check we should expect the doctor to do in this case.
Thanks!

It is likely to be due to hyperacidity and gastritis
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through the provided details and it seems that your child could be having gastritis. Gastric acids are secreted throughout the day and are meant to be useful in digestion. But in case of prolonged gap between meals, as in between the dinner and breakfast, much gastric acid may get collected and may irritate the gastric mucosa. If left uncorrected, the gastritis may increase and worsen the problem. Subsequently gastric ulceration may also occur.
The solution would be to go for medicines like Junior Lanzol (lansoprazole) or prilosec (omeprazole) which reduce the secretion of the stomach acids. You also need to distribute the meals such that the meals are small but frequent. Also give plenty of green leafy vegetables and a high fiber diet. Try these and see how much relief she gets. In any case it might be worthwhile to get it examined by a doctor to evaluate if there are other causes that could be contributing to the problem.
Hope that helps.

Periodic deworming can be done in children presumptively
Detailed Answer:
In children it is not usual to get worms irrespective of good living standards. Periodic deworming is therefore recommended although I doubt whether it is due to worms in your child's case. In any case, give her a dose of Albendazole 400 mg once tonight and repeat the dose after a fortnight. That should be enough to get rid of worms, if any.
