Brief Answer:
Apart from leprosy dapsone is used in many other diseases

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
According to your history you are having hyperkeratotic eczema. It is a type of eczema which can be endogenous due to internal sensitivity of the individual or due to external causes like soaps, detergents or other chemicals.
The medicines prescribed to you are ok. As far as dapsone is concerned it is indicated in many conditions apart from leprosy like lichen planus, eczemas, etc.
You don't have to worry as your symptoms are not at all of leprosy and you have been prescribed dapsone for some other indication.
I hope to have answered your query.
I would be happy to clarify any further doubts .

Brief Answer:
Duration ot treatment depends on your doctor, no long term side effects

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Dapsone is not normally indicated in hyperkeratotic eczema. It can lead to side effects in few individuals. The most commomly encountered side effects are haemolytic anemia, decreased leukocyte and platelet count, neuropathy and rash. There are as such no long term side effects.
The duration of dapsone depends on your treating doctor. It can range from 1-3 months.
You can discuss with your doctor and request him to stop dapsone if it is not very essential.
