I am 30 yrs old and having 8 month of pregnancy. I have my BP on higher side from the start of the pregnancy( 130/90). But from few days it has gone up drastically to (150/95). I am taking 2 lobetalol from beginning. From past one week my doctor started 1 dose of Micardia also. I am worried as my BP is not getting controlled. Please give some suggestion on how to reduce. I am a working women but started taking leaves frequently. I have lowered the salt intake also but still of no use.
Hypertension needs to monitored constantly
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
I have read you query and I understand your concerns about high blood pressure ( Hypertension).
Following is my reply:
1) If you had BO from beginning of pregnancy, it is bound to increase now.
2) This BP if uncontrolled will lead to reduced growth of baby as well as reduced fluid around baby and life threatening for the baby.
3) Such high BP will also l;ead to complication in you like eclampsia ( fits) and failure of organs like kidney.
4) Since you are already in 8th month you can have close monitoring of BP with medicines. You can request your doctor to test BP once every week if possible as there are chance of BP shooting up suddenly.
5) Any symptoms like headache or blurring of vision, see your doctor immediately.
6) I know taking leaves frequently is problem but considering the dangerous situation of pregnancy, it is better to take rest.
7) Salt restriction alone wont help.
I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.
Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.
Regards,
Dr. Soumya
