Suggest Treatment For Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy In My Feet
Can this problem be corrected or eliminated, or do I have to live with it the rest of my life? My neurologist has not been very helpful with this problem.
The cause of peripheral neuropathy should be found first.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Peripheral neuropathy may be a feature of several conditions. The main treatment modality is treating the condition that is causing it. Symptomatic treatment is possible too.
Possible conditions that may cause peripheral neuropathy are: diabetes, viral infections, low vitamins B group, prolonged alcohol use, autoimmune diseases, side effects of drugs, heavy metals poisoning, etc.
So, before to say that this is an untreatable condition, a correct diagnosis and treatment for the cause is necessary. Discuss with your Neurologist about these issues and further diagnostic tests in order to get diagnosed and treated correctly.
