Question: My Query to DR VPYK XXXXXXX
I recently had a medical MTP at 42 days missed period at a reputed hospital in VSKP with Mifepristone and Misoprostol.I had a check scan later which still showed retained products of conception 4*3 mm .initially it was 23*13*12mm.What should I do now,Any ideas??.

Repetition of intravaginal misoprostol is advisable.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I understand your query and concern.
You seem to have incomplete process of termination of pregnancy.
Before proceeding to further surgical management of MTP,I advise you to have another regimen of Misoprostol.
This will cause bleeding associated with few cramps,for 2-4 days.
This will clear all products of retained conception in 97-99%.
This should be followed by a check scan again after the entire bleeding stops.
In any case if the retained products of conception persist,its advisable to go for D/C(dilatation and curettage) for complete and effective MTP.
Please note all these drugs have to be taken only under strict medical prescription.
Consult your Gynecologist for Further expert management.
